📄 Opening a PDF in Kraaft
Whether the PDF sits in a conversation, in a report or in a yellow folder, just select it: it opens right there ✅
The Kraaft PDF viewer works on computer, on iOS and on Android 📱 It opens in viewing mode, with everything you need to go through the document:
Zoom in and out to check a detail on the drawing 🔍
Move between pages
Save or export the PDF as it is 📤
Print it — on computer, the Ctrl + P shortcut works too
Open it in your browser from the menu in the top right, or in another app on mobile 📱
See the history of the document's annotations ⏱️
Download without annotations, to get the original PDF back
The last two options only show up once the PDF carries Kraaft annotations 🧐
✏️ Annotating a Kraaft PDF: the pencil and the toolbar
The pencil, at the bottom centre of the screen, switches the viewer to annotation mode ✏️ That's the only move to remember to start writing on a PDF.
💡 Your annotations sit on their own layer
The viewer shows the PDF as it is and places your annotations on top. The original file is never modified. Your strokes, texts and shapes are stored separately: they are only merged into the PDF when you download it, and what you get is a copy.
The PDF viewer toolbar holds everything you need 🛠️ You pick a tool and you draw straight onto the document.
Pen — a freehand stroke, just like on paper ✏️
Highlighter — the same stroke, translucent 🎨
Shapes — line, arrow, rectangle, ellipse and cloud, dragged from one corner to the other
Text — you click, you type, and you confirm with Enter or by clicking next to it 📝
Eraser — it wipes as it goes, one annotation at a time
A text box then resizes with its handles 🔧 The corners change the letter size, the side bars the width of the box, and the dot above it rotates the box.

🎯 Editing and adjusting your annotations
The selection tool picks up any annotation already placed 🎯 An action bar appears just above it:
Move, resize or rotate the annotation
Duplicate or delete it in one click 🗑️
The left-hand panel follows the tool or the annotation in use 🔧 There you set:
The stroke colour and the fill colour 🎨
The stroke width
The stroke style: solid, dashed or dotted
The layer order, to bring a shape in front of or behind another 📋
The two arrows in the top left undo and redo your latest actions ↩️
💡 Your stroke keeps the same width everywhere
The width you pick is the width of the stroke on the document, not on your screen. Your annotation looks the same to everyone, whatever zoom each person is using — and in print. And if you want the opposite, it can be set: next to the width, you choose between a fixed width and a width that follows the zoom you are drawing at.
👥 Saving and annotating together on the same PDF
The blue button confirms and saves your annotations ✅ If you leave the PDF viewer while annotations are still unsaved, Kraaft reminds you instead of losing them.
Several people can annotate the same Kraaft PDF at the same time 👥 There is no lock and no taking turns:
Each stroke and each text counts as an annotation of its own ✏️
Two people annotating two different spots never get in each other's way
Other people's annotations show up live, without reopening anything ⏱️
Anyone with access to the conversation sees the document's annotations 👤
⚠️ No network on site? — You annotate, you save, and the upload is queued on your device. It goes off on its own once the connection is back, even if you closed the app in the meantime.
🕵️ Finding the history and downloading the annotated PDF
The PDF viewer menu holds both the history and the download 📋
The history lists every change made to the document 🔍 Each entry shows:
Who placed the annotation 👤
When ⏱️
What was done: added, edited or deleted
Which tool was used
The history is kept even when an annotation is deleted 🧐 So you always know who did what on the document.
On the download side, you choose to get the PDF with or without the annotations 📤 Handy for sending a clean version to your client while keeping your annotated version in Kraaft.
